Bio

Elijah (Chip) Wagner

Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Chip Wagner took their first ceramics class freshman year of high school. The desire to be an artist arose from this meeting with clay and excessive doodling in most classes. They are currently an art educator about to begin their fourth-year teaching high school art. Chip completed a MEd in K-12 Art Education and a BFA concentrating in ceramics both at Ohio University. They are balancing being an art educator at Wellston High School and at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens Ohio.  In 2024, they attended two workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts: one with Maureen Alderman on glass kiln fusing through Arrowmont's Legacy Summer Program for Appalachian Teachers and the other with Kevin Snipes, about comics on ceramic surfaces. Other recent interests have included producing digital music and creating music videos for some of the songs

In 2023 they received the Growing Home Fellowship from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. Wagner has been involved with multiple arts events in the past few years and continues to create art while facilitating spaces for art education.
